Sub Base
The design of Sub Base is pretty standard, with the classic 3-lanes that have become a trademark of the series. However, the amount of verticality that makes the map stand out is what really makes it unique. If a player has a weapon that works better at long range, they can take a route and kill enemies from high up instead of running through the middle of the game to try to get into some intense gunfights on the ground.
I will say that the map wasn’t great for goal game types, especially Domination, where it was too easy to spawn-trap the other team. Hopefully, Sledgehammer will fix this by adding some new paths, cover, or pieces of trash in certain places. Also, Sub Base was one of only two maps in the original Modern Warfare 2 that took place in a snowy setting. The improved graphics and effects will definitely make it stand out.
Skidrow
Skidrow has a few spots where you can fight from a mid-range, but most of the map is made up of close-quarters battles, so players really need to pull out their SMGs and shotguns if they want to get a lot of kills. In this modern city area, most of the fighting will happen through the apartment buildings in the middle of the map. However, there are many ways to get into the buildings, which makes them perfect for flanking and back door methods.
Since movement has been sped up a lot in Modern Warfare 3, rising and sliding are now the fastest they’ve ever been. It’s fun to imagine how crazy and complicated this map will be this time. One of the most intense and competitive maps in Modern Warfare 2 is Skidrow. Players will have to be at their best from the beginning to the end. If they want to make it to the top of the leaderboards.
Scrapyard
Scrapyard has become such a famous map that it was even used in the battle royale mode Warzone. However, because it was only a small part of a much bigger map in that mode. It made the area feel a bit empty. Luckily, this won’t be the case when it comes back in all its glory for Modern Warfare 3. The varied scenery on this fairly small map makes it fun for a variety of play styles.
There are two houses on each side of the map, so anyone with a sniper or marksman weapon who wants to do some tasks will have a great time killing enemies from afar. There are, however, some people who will enjoy this map more than others. These people will be able to compete for control of the airplane pods that are spread out in the middle. I can’t see this map moving faster than it did in the first game, but Modern Warfare 3’s improved movement and focus on fast-paced fighting mean that it will be just as fun, if not more so, than it was before.
Afghan
People have always said that Afghan is a hard game to play. If you haven’t taken the time to learn it. Running straight into the middle next to the crashed plane is too easy. You might not realize that the area is empty and everyone on the hills is using it as a hunting ground. This does make it very fun to learn, though. Because there are lots of little secret paths that players can use to get around the map quickly.
The seeds, which are always a point of debate on Call of Duty maps, were another thing that made Afghan stand out. Each team has a lot of cover when they drop in, and the long runway lets them see any enemies clearly. This makes it one of the most fun maps for goal games and lets Flappy Bird players breathe a little easier.
Estate
Estate is a pretty big map, but the action is always in one small area: the house. Anyone who has finished the story of Modern Warfare 2 (2009) knows this all too well. Any team that can hide in the house will be easy targets. But they will also have a great view of the whole map.
In the most recent game, Modern Warfare 2, there was a copy of Estate called Pelayo’s Lighthouse. However, it didn’t quite feel like the original because it was so spread out and took place at night. We’re lucky that the original Estate doesn’t need many changes to be great. Redesigning it visually and releasing it with the game is more than enough to get longtime fans excited.
Favela
Favela was the most vertical map in the original Call of Duty game. It has since become one of the most famous maps in the series. And it even came back for a short time in Call of Duty Ghosts because it was so popular. For one thing, the Brazilian slums have a very bright and eye-catching look that will look absolutely beautiful in Modern Warfare 3. For another, Favela is famous for being unpredictable, meaning that no single player can really control the map.
There will always be someone looking out of a window or running across a balcony because the map has so many buildings. This keeps everyone on their toes because they know they’ll never be completely safe. The fans have grown so attached to Favela that even if it were the only map coming back. It would still bring back a lot of fans who had a great time playing it years ago.
Terminal
Because Terminal is designed in so many different ways, it’s hard to say that it’s just one type of game. It does allow for close-quarters battles, like in the plane or the gift shop. But there are also a lot of open places where people with assault weapons and shooters can get some kills as well. The map is basically split in half, with one part outside and one inside. This makes attack killstreaks useful without being too strong.
Another great thing about the map is how beautiful it is. It’s filled with bright colors, which makes it stand out from other maps that are darker and more somber. Terminal, on the other hand, is one of the most famous FPS games ever, and many fans can’t wait to play it again.
