Brahmatal trek A Perfect Detailed Guide

Brahmatal offers enthralling woodland hikes. You will be able to wander through centuries-old oak and rhododendron woodlands. The special area of Rhododendrons in particular has stayed with me! A strongly defined area of Rhododendron woods may be found just outside of Bekaltal.

The Rhododendron woods are a visual delight. The trunks twist and turn in various shapes. Typically, the trunks are naked and smooth wooded. The trees aren’t particularly tall, but they do provide a beautiful canopy at the top. They’re close enough together to make an ideal green roof above your head.

On the second day, you hike up through some of the most spectacular rhododendron and oak woods to leave Bekaltal. As you get closer to the summit, you’re intrigued and eager to see what’s beyond the tree line.

A wall of snowy mountains stands in front of you as you enter the meadow on the mountain summit. You may enjoy spectacular vistas of the Trishul range after climbing all the way up to the ridge (which runs parallel to Ali Bugyal of the Roopkund trek).

You know you’re getting near to the summit, but seeing the vastness of the mountain ranges up close is something unique to Brahmatal.

One of the greatest ridge treks in our mountains starts there and goes all the way to Jhandi peak. On one side, the massive Trishul range spreads out, while on the other, layers upon layers of mountain ranges arrange themselves in ascending order all the way to Deval and Tharali.

These are the settlements you passed through on your way to base camp. The entire Roopkund trip is stretched out to your right below the Trishul range. From the Brahmatal ridge, you can view every landmark, campsite, and climb on the Roopkund trip. I’ve never stepped on one trip and then gone on to another, maybe the most renowned trek in the world, like this.

Both the Brahmatal campground and the lake have a particular place in my heart. At one end of the ridge, the campground is exposed, with tiers of mountains dropping down to meet the smaller villages below. From here, you can see for over 25 kilometres.

The hues of the sun just brighten up the sky at dusk when facing the western horizon. It was a pleasant surprise to see the sky shift hues from yellow to orange to pink to blue over the course of more than half an hour.

While Deoriatal-Chandrashila is frequently mentioned while discussing rhododendrons, few people are aware that Brahmatal is also a lovely spring trip. Rhododendrons line the slopes of the mountain (Buransh). In the spring, the hillsides are ablaze with dark pink and red rhododendrons. Imagine this happening against a backdrop of melting snow!

However, you will not see these blooms on your journey. However, you may notice lonesome trees in bloom as early as Lohajung!

After that, keep an eye out for the area between Bekaltal and Tilandi as you begin your walk. You enter a rhodo forest right after you leave Bekaltal, and the blossoming blooms form a canopy over your head as you travel.

Finally, at the conclusion of the journey, around Khorurai, keep an eye out for rhodos.

Trek to Brahmatal in the early spring for a wonderful experience (March). So you can stroll in the snow while admiring the blooming flowers. Snow will be found in parts uphill from Tilandi during this period. As the season progresses, snow melts at higher elevations, such as near the 10,440-foot-high Brahmatal lake.

The majority of the snow on the route and around it had melted by mid-April.

From Delhi, there are three trains that will take you to Kathgodam.

The Ranikhet Express departs from Delhi at 8 p.m. at night and arrives in Kathgodam at 5.05 a.m.

The Uttarakhand Sampark Kranti Express departs from Delhi around 4 p.m. and arrives in Kathgodam late at night (10.45 pm).

The NDLS-Kathgodam Shatabdi, which departs Delhi early in the morning (6.20 a.m.) and arrives in Kathgodam shortly after noon, is one of the fastest trains in the world (11.40 am).

Instead of making an overnight travel and then going on to Lohajung without stopping, it is preferable to stop at Kathgodam for the night.

As a result, plan to arrive at Kathgodam on the same day, spend the night there, and then go to Lohajung the next morning. You will be well-rested before the journey if you do this.

Take a Sumo to Lohajung and get down. Almora — Gwaldam — Tharali — Dewal — Mundoli — Lohajung is the route to take (many Tata Sumo drivers may not know this).

Take the 4:30-5:30 a.m. bus from Kathgodam to Gwaldam, arriving at 3 p.m. The bus stop is roughly 50 metres distant, directly across from the train station. Because there are no buses connecting Gwaldam and Lohajung, you must take a shared cab to Lohajung.

The bus to Gwaldam costs Rs.500, while a shared taxi from Gwaldam to Lohajung costs around Rs.50. The final shared taxi to Lohajung leaves around 3:30 p.m. Make sure you don’t forget about it.
