The Legend Of Zelda: Every Game On Nintendo Switch Online
Every Zelda game is slowly being added to Nintendo Switch Online. Here’s what’s out there right now.
Fans of The Legend of Zelda, both old and new, will be happy to hear that Nintendo Switch Online now has a huge library of games from the original series available for their monthly service. The GameCube Zelda games are still not confirmed, but the over a dozen games that are already out should keep you busy until Nintendo gets Wind Waker and Twilight Princess home.
The following is a list of all the Zelda games that you can play right now if you have Nintendo Switch Online.
Zelda 2: The Adventure Of Link
Even though it’s the worst Legend of Zelda game (let’s forget about the terrible CD-i Zelda games for a moment, shall we?). It’s not a bad game at all. That’s it for side-scrolling Zelda games from Nintendo. You have to give them credit for trying something new with just the second game.
Also, this game’s name doesn’t have “Legend of” in it. This was done to make it stand out from the main Legend of Zelda games. Moving from an overhead view to a side-scrolling one changed the game’s main focus from exploring to fighting.
Members of Nintendo Switch Online can play The Adventure of Link, which is one of the harder Zelda games. If you want a good challenge, you can get it.
The Legend Of Zelda
This is the original NES game that started the multibillion-dollar Zelda series. It is a real 8-bit gem. The gameplay in the first Zelda game was so new and different that it set the standard for all future games and is still used today.
The story of The Legend of Zelda doesn’t go in a straight line, and the game is more about exploring than the usual level-by-level layout that was popular at the time. You are the only one going into the world of Hyrule to fight the evil Ganon. There are no points or high scores to beat.
The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap
This 2005 Zelda game for the Game Boy Advance has the standard top-down view and focuses on fixing problems by changing the size of things. The Minish Cap is the third book in the series that comes after Four Swords. Equipped with Ezlo, a magical hat that talks, the game lets Link change his size.
The Minish Cap is like going back to how things used to be, but with some new twists that make the old Zelda feel fresh again.
The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
Link’s Awakening came out first for the Game Boy in 1993, and then again in 1998 for the Game Boy Color. The game wasn’t your normal Zelda journey, and it was weird that Princess Zelda and the Triforce, the series’ main secret item, weren’t in it.
Link is instead thrown into a whole new world and gets stuck on the strange Koholint Island. After that, you’ll have to go on an adventure to get out of this strange land and return to Hyrule.
Some of the best things about Links’ Awakening are the appearances from other well-known Nintendo games, like Yoshi and Kirby. Once more, Link’s Awakening added to the idea of a world that the game has been working up to.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle Of Ages and Oracle Of Seasons
Nintendo does what it did with Pokémon, which is another popular series. And puts out two versions of this Zelda game for the Game Boy Color at the same time. In the same way that you can’t finish the Pokedex with just one Pokémon game. You won’t be able to get to the main plot by playing only Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons.
This is just classic Nintendo being sneaky without being shady. Lucky for us, both versions of the Zelda Oracle games are great and worth the money.
The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past
Following the style of the first game, A Link to the Past, the third game in the Zelda series and the only Zelda game made for the SNES, told the story from above. Drift Boss was a great example of how to make a game, and it was the first game to get almost a perfect score from Famitsu magazine (39/40).
Many people think that A Link to the Past is one of the best games of all time and one of the best SNES games. It was also the first Zelda game to introduce the idea of multiple worlds.
The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
Another one of the best Zelda games for the N64 is the second one. Link is trying to keep the moon from hitting Termina and ending the world. Which is a shockingly sad concept for a game.
In order to do that, he has to keep living through the last 72 hours until he finds out how to stop the disaster.
Many people think that Majora’s Mask is the saddest Legend of Zelda game because it deals with death and being alone a lot. Majora’s Mask is a must-play for fans of the genre because of its unexpected change in tone and famous pictures like the scary face on the moon.
The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Ocarina of Time, which came out in 1998 for the N64, is often called the best Zelda game ever. It was the first Zelda game to go into three dimensions.
Auto-targeting and context-sensitive controls were also added in Ocarina of Time. Which is another example of how the game industry has changed through new features that have become standard.
If you think about how out of date Ocarina of Time is now, you can’t deny how much of an effect it had on the action-adventure game category. This Zelda game was also the first to add darker and more important topics to a series that was usually funny.
It’s likely that no other Zelda game will ever be better than Ocarina of Time.
