Physical Purity

Physical purity is the far most important step for Islamic rituals. Before getting into Ihram, you should ensure your hygiene. This includes clipping your nails, shaving underarms, and below the navel. After this, you should take a shower in the same way as our Prophet (PBUH) has performed (Ghusl). Enter The State Of Ihram

The second, and most important step is to enter the state of Ihram. This is usually done before crossing the Miqat. If you are flying to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, it is better to wear Ihram at the airport before your flight departs. For this, you can either use the prayer room or washrooms in the airport. You can also wear Ihram on your flight but this is too risky as planes have limited numbers of washrooms and there may be many people to do the same. Salah Al-Ihram

As you get close to miqat or even cross it, you have to make niyyah of Umrah. You must remember that you cannot do niyyah after performing salah al-ihram. Niyyah can be made only on miqat or after miqat has passed. It is ideal to wait for the last moment and do niyyah after miqat has gone so there is no uncertainty. Entering Makkah And Kaaba

It is the sunnah of our Holy Prophet (PBUH) to perform Sa’i right after performing tawaf. But, if you are tired, you can take a little rest as you’ll have to walk 3 kilometres on foot. Make sure to start Sa’i at Safa and end it on Marwa and complete all 7 rounds between these.

Halq Or Taqsir

After Sa’i, you must leave the masjid Al-haram, and perform halq or taqsir. Halq is when you shave your complete head and taqsir is when you cut your hair only an inch to exist the state of Ihram. It is virtuous if a Muslim shaves his head instead of trimming the hair. Keep one thing in mind, you have to do Halq or Taqsir outside the Mosque Al-haram as some Muslims make this mistake.
